About Handplot

Handplot is a pen plotter studio in Madison, Wisconsin. We make wedding stationery and original art using machines that hold real pens and draw with real ink.

The machines are AxiDraw-family pen plotters. They are precise, repeatable, and visible. Every piece they draw is filmed, and most sessions stream live. The machine is not hidden. It is the product.

The studio is operated by Adam Bishop under XOps360 LLC. The software that runs the plotters, the compositor that lays out your stationery, the live-feed system, and the site you are reading were all built in-house.

Why plotted, not printed

A laser printer simulates handwriting. A pen plotter does handwriting. The pen touches the paper. The ink is wet. The stroke has texture and pressure variation that comes from a physical nib on a physical surface. That is what "handplotted" means, and it is what distinguishes this from a font on an inkjet.
